Lettuce
Lettuce is one of the oldest varieties of salad known throughout the world. There are about 100 varieties of lettuce having a wide palette of colors, shapes and sizes. Lettuce tastes quite flat without any bitter or acidic traces. Therefore, lettuce goes well with other salads having a more distinctive taste, and with other vegetables. Despite lack of pronounced taste, Lettuce is rich in vitamins, macro- and micronutrients.
Lettuce leaves contain: vitamin K, folic acid, vitamin B4, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin E, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, vitamin B1. Also lettuce leaves contain the following macro- and micronutrients: potassium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, selenium.
Lettuce contributes to water-salt metabolism, improves digestion and appetite.
